Huge Crowds at Fresno H1N1 Clinic

Fresno, CA The number of people who have likely died from the swine flu in the U.S. has now risen to more than 4,000. That's nearly four times the previous government estimate.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says millions of Americans have caught the pandemic flu since it first appeared in April.

This newest fatality estimate includes deaths caused by complications related to the H1N1 flu, including pneumonia and bacterial infections.

The CDC's earlier estimate put the death count at just over 1,000.

Public health officials say the revised estimate is well below the yearly death toll from the seasonal flu.
