Visalia Police estimate well over 10,000 people came out to watch Monday's Candy Cane Lane Parade. And almost everyone agreed the parade really helps to get them into the holiday spirit.
"We do it every year we come out with our friends and family and just start the Christmas season," said Lydia Hense.
Hense and her family set up their seats three-hours before the parade started to get a front row seat. They thought this year's theme "It's A Cowboy Christmas" fit Visalia perfectly. "I like the western culture and it's about Visalia, the town of Visalia too."
Whether you like holiday-themed dogs or dancing cowgirls, everyone has their favorite act of the parade.
Allison Alvarez said, "My favorite part of the parade is all the schools coming out and doing the marching bands."
Katelynn Alvarez said, "I like coming out here because I like seeing all the cool stuff and lots of funny things."
Kristin Villanueva bundled up her little ones to see the parade, even though she said it felt warmer outside than it did last year. "All the lights in the parade she thinks it's like Disneyland."
There were more than 100 floats in this year's parade and organizers saved the best for last; Good 'ol Saint Nick who traded his sleigh for a fire truck.
Police said many of the people out watching the parade Monday were spread out along Main Street as opposed to clumping and overcrowding the sidewalks. They said this made for a safer event since less people were fighting for a good view of the parade.
