An historic Central Fresno business will get to stay in business after a long legal fight. Supporters cheered as the city planning commission made its decision. Commissioners decided to uphold an appeal by the owner of Van Ness Auto Repair.

The small repair shop is in nestled among homes near Old Fig Garden. And it's on an historic registry because it's located at the site of the oldest gas station in California.

Owner Jim Medina's conditional use permit was revoked in October because of complaints from some residents.

It took a total of 16-hours of testimony over the last few months. Commissioners said an overwhelming show of support during the meetings demonstrated the neighborhood's desire to keep the shop open.
