Police say the suspect was speeding away from an officer when he drove right underneath a big rig that was turning onto the highway.
The car's front end got smashed into the driver's area and the top got nearly sheared off, but the driver walked away with just minor scrapes and bruises.
"He was obviously lucky not to be more injured than he was just based on the condition of the vehicle," said Sgt. Joseph Bianchi with the California Highway Patrol.
Officers aren't sure why the man tried to get away, but there were reports of a stolen vehicle with a similar description to the one he was driving.
