Bakersfield Crash Takes Woman's Ear

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. It happened Friday in Bakersfield.

Police say the driver of the minivan failed to stop and crashed right through the front of the store.

The car hit the 22 year old victim, cutting off her ear and leaving her with a broken leg.

Police arrested the driver because they say she took prescription sleeping pills before getting behind the wheel.

"The blood tests will obviously give us a better idea of how much is in her system, but too much to operate a vehicle safely. Being under the influence of a prescription drug and driving, carries the same consequences," said Sgt. Allan Abney Bakersfield Police Dept.

The young woman who was hit by the minivan was still in the hospital Saturday morning, and was listed in stable condition.
