Stimulus money for Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. The university will receive $2 point $9 million in one-time stimulus money.

President John Welty says without the stimulus money Fresno State would have to cut 235 additional courses and 80 to 100 part-time faculty this fall.

But Welty says stimulus funds won't prevent cuts in enrollment.

'It will be necessary for us to reduce enrollment by nine and a half to 10 percent. We will have to reduce the number of faculty ...we need to teach students as well," said John Welty, Fresno State President.

The university is still facing $5 point $6 million in cuts this fall.
