Tearful Testimony in Double Murder Trial in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif.

Angela Gonzales teared up on the stand Monday while describing the scene of her parents' murder, the home of Roy and Angie Woodley.

"I stood right there, screaming," she testified.

Gonzales found her father's body in the living room of his Tarpey Village home then froze in her tracks.

"And then Dominic went looking for my mom," she said.

Her boyfriend, Dominic Padilla, testified that he raced to the back of the house.

"[I] opened the bedroom door and saw Angie lying face up at the edge of the bed," he said.

Gonzales and Padilla were checking on the Woodleys after nobody heard from them for an entire day. Their nephew was also concerned.

"I called the home and noticed that the recording wasn't the same, didn't have his voice on it," testified Mark Woodley. "It was automated."

Mark Woodley says his uncle's demeanor changed that week while they worked together on a project.

Prosecutors believe Roy Woodley's mood soured after a visit from his son, Phillip, who they say was a habitual meth user.

Family members say they rarely saw Phillip and he was estranged from his father and stepmother.

But the only person who says he witnessed the crime is Jeff Rancour, who already accepted a plea deal in the case and is scheduled to testify later this week.

Defense attorney Eric Green called Rancour "the devil" in opening statements and plans to make him out to be an opportunistic liar when he takes the stand.
