Police say 31-year-old Reynaldo Duran was driving home two friends from a party when he got upset with one of them. Duran stopped the car in the parking lot, and pulled out a knife.
That's when police say Duran tried to stab his friend in the throat. During the struggle the other man was cut in the hand.
A third person was able to separate the two and all three got back in their car and drove off.
Police caught up with them at Clovis and Barstow where Duran was arrested.
