Fresno man accused of kidnapping his child

FRESNO, Calif. It happened early this morning near Blackstone and Webster in Central Fresno.

Officers say 22-year-old Yusef Potts got into an argument with the mother of his child. Police say Potts hit the woman and then ran off with the boy. That prompted an all out search effort for Potts in the surrounding neighborhood.

But thanks to a neighbor, police found Potts a short time later hiding in a backyard.

"We're very thankful that he came out. I'd like to add that a homeowner saw him in a backyard and made contact through a window and told him police were not going to go away and said the best thing for him to do would be to come out. At that point the home owner came out and advised us he'd be coming to the front yard we're very appreciate of this homeowner," said Sgt. Mike Clark with the Fresno Police Department.

Police took Potts into custody and the boy was reunited with his mom in an ambulance. The child was not hurt.
