Teams of four compete in events like branding, roping, and sorting, and the ranch rodeo also serves as a precursor to the Clovis Rodeo.
"This is a completely different animal. What's going on today, it's more like ranch work. In two weeks, our rodeo starts and that's mostly bucking stock and roping. It's a different kind of event," said Ron Dunbar with the Clovis Rodeo Association.
The Clovis Rodeo kicks off with P.B.R. on April 22nd. But you don't have to wait until then to get all the rodeo action.
ABC 30 will air a rodeo special, "Mud To Dust: Inside The Clovis Rodeo" next Saturday, on April 17th at 7 p.m.
