AM Live Ag Report

FRESNO, Calif. The A1 route, which runs along the existing Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway line east of Highway 99, would impact agriculture in eastern Merced County, near the communities of Planada and Le Grand.

The California Farm Bureau reports, the Merced County Agricultural Commissioner's Office analyzed how the route would affect farmers and ranchers. It found the southern part of the route would affect nearly half the permanent crops in the area.

Madera and Merced farm bureaus are pushing for the A2 route which follows the existing transportation corridor of Highway 99 and the Union Pacific Railroad.

If you mark it, it may come back. That's the message from rural crime investigators and the State Farm Bureau who stress the importance of marking property to help in its recovery if it's stolen.

The California Farm Bureau reports the owner-applied number crime prevention program, allows law enforcement agencies to track stolen farm equipment with I.D. numbers within any state and county in the U.S.

Farmers can get their equipment back, because now the sheriff's department has a way to look it up. To get an owner applied number, contact your local sheriff's office.
