People attending the funeral were asked to wear vibrant colors instead of black to celebrate Sage's life. Nearly three-hundred classmates attended the service along with many from the Fowler community.
Sage was struck by a pickup truck while walking home from a bowling alley. Authorities are still searching for Ramon Ayala who they believe was behind the wheel and is now on the run.
Many say Sage left a positive mark on the community.
Sutter Middle School Principal, Lori Gonzalez said, "It just goes to show what a life can do for someone. He was just one of those individuals that affected everyone."
Sage's mother is asking that any funds raised from the community be used to build a memorial bench or fountain in the boy's honor.
