The Action News Crime Tracker shows 39 burglaries in the Central Fresno district since April first. Burglaries there are up 50% compared to this time last year.

Officers say the rise in crime is frustrating, especially when they re-arrest suspects who have been released early from the Fresno County Jail.

Despite the hurdle -- police say they'll continue to arrest criminals. Some residents seem to have noticed.

James Pearce said, "Last six months I've seen more in the last three years. At least every day, once or twice I see them in the neighborhood. It seems to have been keeping people out of the neighborhood, burglarize or disrupt anything."

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims is expected to release a total of 400 inmates by May third due to budget cuts.
