Bulldog Gang Member Arrested After Crashing into Police Car

FRESNO, Calif. Police say the suspect crashed into two cars that were waiting at a red light at McKinley and First, including a police car that wasn't involved in the pursuit. They say spike strips used at Fresno and Belmont didn't work and the suspect kept on driving until he crashed. The driver was loaded into an ambulance at the scene and is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and evading arrest. "It was proactive work by our officers that identified the car as being stolen and when they began following it, I can only assume that the suspect became nervous and seeing the police were driving behind him ... that's when he began to turn and out of neighborhoods and ultimately made a real bad move, made by his level of influence, or the fact he was trying to evade police," said Lt. Anthony Martinez with the Fresno Police Department.

Other than the suspect, no one else was injured in the crash and the suspect's passenger was released at the scene. Police identified the suspect as 28 year old Brandon Cruz, who police say is a confirmed bulldog gang member who was on parole.
