13-year-old breaks record

Jordan Romero broke the former record for the youngest climber to scale the world's highest mountain, which was held by a 16-year-old boy.

This is video of Jordan getting ready to leave on his trip last month.

The teen from big bear made the climb on Saturday, with his father, his father's girlfriend and three Sherpa guides.

Before leaving on his adventure last month, Jordan said he was feeling both excited and nervous about his difficult climb.

"Been looking forward to going for so long.... can't imagine the feeling right now," Romero said.

Jordan says he was inspired to climb by a painting in his school hallway of the highest summits on each of the seven continents.

He also climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa when he was just 9 years old.

His next trip will take him to Antarctica in December.
