School officials say Davis beat the boy because he was laughing at a video of a disabled person. She was fired earlier this week after the video came to light.
Friday, Davis offered this apology.
"I am without excuses for my actions. This is a painful situation, and an incident I truly regret," Sheri Lynn Davis said.
"It's horrifying he had bruises on his side where she was kicking him. He had a knot on his head, and he had a black eye," Alesha Johnson said.
Alesha Johnson, the boy's mother filed a lawsuit against Davis and the school Thursday.
Davis' attorney says the suit will bring to light larger security issues at the school that led to the confrontation.
Friday, Houston Police have not decided whether to pursue charges.
