FRESNO, Calif. The Fresno democrat has introduced the dairy price stabilization act to help the dairy industry get back on track.

Costa says the legislation would curb fluctuating milk prices that are driving dairy farmers in the Valley and our nation out of business. He says dairy families cannot afford another year of low milk checks that don't even cover the cost of production.

Last year, America's 65,000 dairies lost over $12-billion. Many dairy farmers were forced to lay off workers and, in many cases, shut down their operations.

Onion growers in the Imperial Valley are finding a strong demand for their crops this year.

Rain and other weather problems damaged onions grown in Texas. Right now, most of the onions now in stores come from supplies already in storage. But consumer prices have edged up.

The California Farm Bureau reports prices will remain high until onion supplies catch up with demand.
