On Wednesday, a team of marine mammal experts removed about 20 pounds of fishing nets and ropes from its tail. She then darted out to sea, presumably to resume its migration north to Alaska.
But the whale, nicknamed Lily, returned to the Harbor on Thursday morning.
No word yet on what ultimately caused her death.
