Hours after being found safe in Merced, 22-year-old Nancy Salas confessed she had faked her own kidnapping.
On Wednesday, Salas told her family she was going for a run and never returned, sparking a massive search.
But Glendale Police said she took off to avoid telling her parents she had dropped out of UCLA two years ago.
Prosecutors will not seek criminal charges but could still file a civil suit to recoup the money spent searching for her.
