Wizard of Oz exhibit at Fresno State

FRESNO, Calif. Original artwork and even first editions of the Wizard Of Oz books are on display this month as part of an exhibit that runs through Saturday.

The exhibit also includes costumes from the Broadway musical, Wicked which weigh up to 30 pounds each.

The Wizard Of Oz was first published in 1900 and was turned into a movie in 1939.

Since then, the Lion, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow have inspired generations of children and adults.

This is our American fairy tale. And what people take away from their childhood, they like to revisit as adults," Jennifer Crow said.

The exhibit also coincides with a national conference that wrapped up this weekend at Fresno State sponsored by the International Wizard of Oz Club.

People from all over came to Fresno to listen to Oz presentations and lectures including an appearance by the author of Wicked a novel loosely based on the characters and events of the original work of fiction.
