It happened in Visalia on Encina Street near Houston Avenue last night.
Visalia Police say the gunman confronted 55-year-old Arturo Gonzales and demanded money from him. But when Gonzales refused to hand over any cash, the suspect shot him in the stomach and arm.
An ambulance took Gonzales to Kaweah Delta Medical Center. He's now recovering from surgery.
Investigators believe the shooter is between 15 and 18 years old.
