Joseph Mendez was killed at a home just a few miles outside of Kerman. Family members told Action News a fight broke out between him and a group of men and someone pulled out a knife, stabbing him several times.
When deputies arrived, they estimate up to 150-teens were still at the party. Detectives stayed for several hours questioning dozens of witnesses, but at this point, no arrests have been made.
The victim's sister says she doesn't understand why anyone would want to kill her brother.
"I don't see why. He was a good kid. He didn't bother nobody," said Rachel Mendez, "he was my little brother. I'll never have that again. He was a miracle kid."
