It happened just before 8 p.m. Friday night at the intersection of Avenue 440 and Road 120.
Investigators say 4-year-old Angel Lopez was a passenger in a car driven by 32-year-old Rodolfo Rangle who is suspected of being drunk.
The C.H.P. says the vehicle was traveling east on Avenue 440 when Rangle failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a dodge driving north on Road 120. The four-year-old was flown to Community Regional Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.
Rangle was arrested and passengers in the Dodge were taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with minor injuries.
