During Tuesday's fall assembly, Fresno State President John Welty told faculty about plans to celebrate the school's centennial. However Welty says without a state budget there is uncertainty about school funding this semester.

Welty says students and staff can look forward to the fact there are no furlough days scheduled on campus. And administrators will begin searching for 35 new faculty members immediately. Students are excited about the possibility of adding new courses.

Administrators say searches for new faculty members will take a full year. If all goes according to plan new hires should be joining campus this time next year.
