The sheriff's department says a 19-year-old man went under the water near lower Chiquito Creek Falls above North Fork. Visitors in the area have not been able to rescue him, and his condition is unknown at this time.
Two people have already drowned this summer in the area. An Arizona woman fell into the rapids at Mammoth Pool last month. A Santa Maria man also drowned in June while trying to save his puppy.
