Two power outages affect nearly 5,000 in Fresno and Clovis

FRESNO, Calif.

Without lights and air conditioning Dan Sablan and his family made plans to leave. "Probably take a ride out, go to Target or some other shopping center, get some ice cream." He said.

The outages started late in the afternoon. The Willow-International Community College Campus was briefly affected.

Student Gordon Cromwell said it was no big deal. "We were in the middle of the class and all of the sudden the power went out. We were kind of hoping we'd get sent home early, but, it came back on."

Some classes were cut short but for student Miranda Weldon, it was just a minor glitch on the second day of school. "It was allright. It was kind of funny actually." She said.

It wasn't funny for shoppers and employees in downtown Fresno. The Fresh and Easy store closed early, but brought in a generator to keep the equipment running.

PG&E crews worked on a piece of underground equipment in the parking lot of Fresh and Easy and managed to restore power to most of the affected downtown customers by Tuesday night.

Power was restored all the customers in Clovis early Wednesday morning.
