45,000 pot plants found in Madera County

FRESNO, Calif.

A Madera County Sheriff's spokeswoman says 45,000 pot plants were found growing in a cornfield near a home in a rural area.

Officers say they arrested Alejandro Castellanos as soon as he left the growing area. Officers say Carlos Bailon-Martinez was arrested two hours later hiding in a crawl space of the house.

Agents also confiscated two assault rifles. Authorities say there may be at least two more men involved in the crime. All are believed to be tied to organized crime.
