Ward can be heard telling a dispatcher that he just shot a Mormon bishop on Tulare Avenue. That man was 40-year-old Clay Sannar.
Visalia Police later shot and killed Ward. The family of Ward told Action News he has a history of mental illness.
Authorities have not yet released the 9-1-1 recordings of calls from witnesses at the church because they say the shooting is still under investigation.
