It happened around 7:30 at a home on Jefferson and Alta in a remote area northeast of Reedley.
Detectives say three men knocked on the door. When a woman answered, they started asking her questions about work opportunities in the area.
After a short conversation, sheriff's deputies say the men pulled out a gun and forced their way into the home.
They then tied the woman up in her living room and asked where are the valuables are.
They got away with some cash and possibly jewelry, but were scared away a few minutes later when the husband came home.
Investigators say this home invasion is likely related to two other recent ones in the area. The last occurred on Sunday about a half mile from here.
In that case, the homeowner was shot. The other happened in Parlier last Tuesday. A woman was also tied up.
The woman involved in this case ... her 5-year-old step son was home at the time. He was not hurt.
The men took off in a white Mitsubishi car. If you have any information, call the sheriff's office.
