Gang members looking for targets kill Dos Palos man

FRESNO, Calif.

Merced County Sheriff's Deputy Tom Mackenzie described the attack;"There was family members sitting on the front porch of their house when they noticed a black Mercedes driving back and forth several times .

One of those times, the Mercedes pulled up somebody got out of it, one of the suspects got out, fired several rounds at the group of people in the house."

One bullet killed 21 year old Tommy Henson. His 50 year old father was wounded and hospitalized.

The suspects were caught just 15 minutes later as they tried to return home to Los Banos.

19-year-old Sanson Andrade and a 15-year-old boy were arrested. Both were charged with murder, and attempted murder, with gang enhancements.

Mackenzie says the teens were members of the Norteno Gang, and were looking for members of the rival Sureno Gang. "They belonged to a sect gang member and they drove around Dos Palos looking for a member of a rival gang just to pick a fight and engage in a shooting." He said.

It's not known if their targets had any connection to a gang.

It's the second episode of Norteno gang violence in Merced County in the past week. On Monday night two teens, a boy and a girl, in the town of Planada were shot and wounded by alleged Norteno members.

They apparently opened fire when they saw the boy was wearing a blue sweatshirt. Blue is the color of the rival Sureno gang. The Merced County Sheriff's Department says the teen was not connected to a gang. Four suspects are in custody for that shooting.
