Fresno Co to vote on ordinance to stop pot growing

FRESNO, Calif.

This decision comes after a shooting last week in West Central Fresno where police say thieves tried to steal several pot plants from a man's backyard. Police say a man in the home ran after the thieves and shot one.

And Monday, police say a group of men took several marijuana plants from a house near Dunn and Fruit. Police say someone in that house chased after them. Eyewitnesses say there was a shooting.

"I was taking my kids to school. And all of a sudden we hear some gunshots. A van and a truck following another van shooting going around the corner," said witness James Harris.

The suspects crashed into a pole and ran away from the scene. No arrests have been made.

The Fresno City Council is expected to vote on a similar ordinance on Thursday.
