Park(ing) Day in Downtown Fresno

FRESNO, Calif.

Fresno State's Verge Club for Arts and Design rolled out the sod and put down their lawn chairs in front of the convention center and made relaxing priority number one. They said they hoped to generate debate about how public spaces are used.

"We can have an area for a park and have another building just a little bit further out. It doesn't need to be planned out to have all the building right on top of each other," said Verge Club President Theresa LaFranchise.

The downtown transformation wasn't limited to just Fresno. Parking spaces around the nation were turned into parks Friday as a part of a national Park(ing) Day.
