Sheriff's deputies say the victim was walking in front of a home when one or two suspects approached on foot. Words were exchanged, and then one person opened fire.
Investigators don't believe the shooting was gang related, but said the victim was specifically targeted. Sheriff's deputies say the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the torso and underwent surgery Monday night. His condition has not been released.
They haven't released suspect information but said they are following up on several leads.
