North Valley soldier killed in "non-combat incident"

FRESNO, Calif.

20-year-old John Carrillo of Stockton died last week in Iraq in what the department of defense is calling a non-combat incident. Officials say Carrillo and a 26-year-old soldier from Connecticut were killed by another soldier now in custody.

Details of the two deaths are not being revealed by military officials. But Monday night, Carrillo's uncle reacted to the news.

"He went down there, not to get killed in combat, you know, but to get killed in his own barracks. Was a shame, ya know, I mean," said Paul Menchaca.

Carrillo leaves behind a wife and two children -- including a three-year-old and a three-month-old.
