Visalia 1st graders get a lesson in fire safety

VISALIA, Calif.

First graders at Crestwood Elementary School got a firsthand look at what to do in the event of a fire and how to prevent them.

The Visalia Fire Department is teaching kids about fire safety as part of national fire prevention week. They were also wearing pink as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Visalia Fire Department hopes the kids learn as much preventive information so they can teach it to their parents as well.

The fire department also demonstrated how they would save someone who's trapped in a house that's on fire.
