Fresno Police say Surabian was driving out of an apartment complex in Northeast Fresno around 5 p.m. when he ran head-on into a vehicle driving into the complex. Surabian then left the scene.
After searching the area, officers found Surabian's vehicle in a shopping center at Champlain and Perrin. Officers found Surabian, who was intoxicated, inside a nearby restaurant.
Surabian is facing misdemeanor DUI charges and misdemeanor hit and run charges. Because Surabian submitted to a blood test, his blood alcohol level will not be known for several days.
Surabian had been on leave without pay prior to this incident; he will continue to be on this status with the Fresno Police.
Both Surabian and the victim were uninjured.
