Orange Cove mayor's son found guilty in drug case

FRESNO, Calif.

Prosecutors charged Victor Lopez Junior after finding six methadone pills in his home during a search warrant late last year. Lopez claimed a friend accidentally left the pills at his house, but the jury found him guilty. Lopez says he was made a target because his father has created some enemies during his long tenure as mayor of Orange Cove. "My dad does good for the city. He works very hard for where he's at today and they want to go after me because of my dad."

Lopez faced a possible three-year sentence for felony drug possession. But the judge says he's probably eligible for a special program that would reduce his sentence to just probation ... with no prison time.
