Prop 25 would end two-third vote on state budget

FRESNO, Calif.

The group made up of central valley farmers and small business owners explained why voters should vote no on Proposition 25.

Prop 25 would end the requirement of a two-thirds vote by members of the state legislature to approve a state budget. Local leaders say the focus shouldn't be on rushing to get a budget done by a deadline.

"It should be more about the quality of the budget. This proposition doesn't do anything to improve the quality of our state budget," said State Senator Dave Cogdill (R) Fresno.

Prop 25 supporters say the measure would end budget stalemates in Sacramento, and help lawmakers approve a spending plan on time.
