Fresno Deputy Police Chiefs file discrimination complaint

FRESNO, Calif.

An attorney for Robert Nevarez and Sharon Shaffer -- says the complaint has been filed with both the city of Fresno and the Department of Fair Employment and Housing. The claim involves allegations of discrimination and creating a hostile work environment. But no other details about the complaint have been revealed. Both deputy chiefs are on paid administrative leave.

Fresno City Manager, Mark Scott issued a statement saying: "The city is undertaking an investigation of the matter and upon its conclusion will take appropriate action as necessary. Since this is a personnel matter, the city cannot comment further."
