Tortured, shackled teen to testify in Tracy

FRESNO, Calif.

San Joaquin County prosecutors say 31-year-old Antony Waiters is accused of torturing the teen at a neighbor's home in the town of Tracy. Waiters pleaded not guilty.

In December of 2008, the teen escaped the house and stumbled into a nearby health club for help. He was 16 years old at the time. Police say he was dirty, with a chain around his ankle, and wearing only boxer shorts.

Waiters is the last defendant being prosecuted in the case. His neighbors, Michael Schumacher and Kelly Layne Lau and the teen's then-legal guardian, Caren Ramirez, accepted a plea deal to more than a dozen felonies earlier this month. They are scheduled to be sentenced in December to 30 years or more in prison.
