Apartment fire in Fresno leaves family homeless

FRESNO, Calif.

It happened just after 10 p.m. Monday night at an apartment in Central Fresno.

Firefighters say a car caught fire and the flames spread to other vehicles and the carport. Investigators say the fire eventually spread into the attic.

Fire fighters evacuated one family from their apartment. They are now staying in temporary housing.

One woman was taken to the hospital with minor smoke inhalation. The damage is estimated at $50,000.
