Homes in Kerman targeted

FRESNO, Calif.

The victims' homes are located in remote areas near vineyards and fields. Two of the victims are related. And, in all of the cases, witnesses say the men were armed with guns.

Sheriff's Deputies spent several hours outside this Fresno County home Saturday.

Just before 8 a.m., a woman in her late sixties spotted three men wearing masks trying to pry open her patio door.

Instantly, she sounded an alarm and the men took off. "And within 30 to 45 seconds, I was up there and the vehicle was already gone."

Floyd Stidham is the woman's brother in law.

He lives next door and says, if he had gotten to her home sooner he would have taken action. "If I would have had my gun, and if that vehicle had been in my yard, I would have blocked the vehicle where he couldn't get out, and whatever happened, happened."

Investigators believe the men are the same suspects who targeted two nearby homes one day earlier.

Around 4 o'clock Friday afternoon, three men snuck through a window and ransacked this Howard Avenue home's detached garage.

The victim's son who did not want to talk on camera tells action news his mother was inside the home sleeping at the time.

When the burglars didn't find anything, he says they went around the corner to his own Mckinley Avenue home, snuck through some vineyards and broke in through a back window.

The man says, the suspects then held his wife, and his two young children at gunpoint while they stole a computer and some jewelry.

Sheriff's deputies say the fact that these men are acting in broad daylight is even more concerning.

"That's why we're urging people to be extremely careful when they go to the door and when they drive home. Just be extra careful because they are extremely violent and unpredictable," Lt. Phil Caporale said.

Yesterday, the suspects were seen driving away from the area in a 1994, white Oldsmobile, license plate number 3EQP630.

The suspects in Saturday morning's incident, took off in a newer model white SUV, possibly a Tahoe or Suburban.
