State leaders, including Texas Governor Rick Perry awarded the 70-year-old actor and his brother with the honor Thursday afternoon.
Both produced the show together, in which Chuck played Cordell Walker--a Texas Ranger.
The show was filmed in Texas and aired for eight seasons beginning in 1993.
"It's been an incredible run. I wouldn't have it any other way and making friends with Rangers...in our show all the time," Chuck Norris said.
State officials thanked both men for bringing honor to the department, and the state.
Chuck's brother says there is another Texas Ranger show being developed right now.
