Deadly crash: Vehicle found in San Joaquin River

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif.

The vehicle was discovered around 7:30 Sunday morning, in the San Joaquin River near Herndon and Dickenson Avenues. It was pulled from the water a few hours later, but investigators don't know exactly when the crash happened.

They say the victim was ejected before his car plunged into the river. He's been identified as 44-year-old Michael Acord.

Divers from the Fresno Fire Department and American Ambulance both responded to the scene to search the water for additional victims, but none were found.

At this point, California Highway Patrol Officers haven't figured out why the driver failed to follow the curve at Dickenson and Herndon.
