Enhanced security blamed for CA Drivers License delays

FRESNO, Calif.

The Department of Motor Vehicles is blaming new enhanced security for the delay. Some people are waiting up to six weeks to receive their licenses.

The DMV director says the company that makes the licenses is struggling with color accuracy, the raised lettering, and the positioning of such California icons as Yosemite's El Capitan and the Golden Gate Bridge.

The new licenses include some images that can only be seen with the use of ultraviolet light and the date of birth and signature can be felt. The DMV processes about 38,000 applications for new or renewed licenses every day.
