Officials: Missing Fresno snowboarder died of asphyxiation

FRESNO, Calif.

The Fresno County Coroner's Office has determined Peter "Eli" Shelby died of asphyxiation.

That's according to the Fresno Bee.

Shelby disappeared during his trip to China Peak last month, and his body was found the next day in an area of deep powder near an intermediate ski run at the resort.

The 29-year-old was a cook at Pismo's Coastal Grill in north Fresno for more than a year.
