First Five supplies Fresno families with basic needs

First Five Fresno County held the first of nine giveaways at a southwest Fresno church Saturday morning where they also provided families with diaper wipes and food.

First Five focuses on the first five years of a child's life and though the giveaway focused on infants and toddlers, it also served as a way to connect families to resources available year round.

"Our hope is that this serves as a catalyst, the point of building a relationship of here with an organization they can trust to help get their family on their way," Kendra Rogers said.

A total of 34 agencies teamed up to assist in the event. Eight more will take place over the next month but all of the families must receive a voucher prior to the giveaway.
