Visalia home destroyed by fire again

FRESNO, Calif.

The Ward family's home caught fire just after 3 a.m. Friday. Firefighters say it burned for close to an hour before they could put it out.

The home was under construction and nearly complete, after an accidental fire destroyed it last June.

Norma Ward and her husband built the home after her stepson Tim died in the 9/11 terror attacks. The family used 9/11 settlement money to purchase the home in his memory.

The wards are also raising their four grandchildren.

This latest fire has forced them to deal with a tragic case of déjà vu.

"I didn't believe it; I was in shock 'til I actually got here. It was just a repeat of what happened before. It was a big shock," Norma Ward said.

Firefighters are still looking into the cause of the fire.

The Ward family says they don't know whether they'll rebuild the home again.
