Two people from Fresno killed in train accident

FRESNO, Calif.

Officials with the Highway Patrol say an Amtrak train hit their car as it crossed the railroad tracks Saturday afternoon in Watsonville.

They have not yet been identified but officials say they were in a 2007 Nissan pickup truck.

The impact of the crash knocked the truck about 175 feet and the man and woman were pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials investigated the crash for about an hour and a half, then the train resumed service to LA.

None of the 160 people onboard the train were injured in the accident.
