It happened just after 7:00 Sunday night on T and 6th Streets in the driveway of Sheehy Elementary School.

Merced Police say Reuben Hernandez was walking with two friends when a car pulled up and two people inside started firing.

All three pedestrians were hit. Hernandez died shortly after from his injuries. Police say so far they don't have many leads.

Floyd Higdon with the Merced Police Department said, "We don't know what provoked this. According to the other two no words were said nothing happened between them and the car just that two occupants of the vehicle opened fire on them."

Several windows of a kindergarten classroom were hit by stray bullets. Police are not saying whether the shooting was gang related. No arrests have been made.
